There is nothing quite as beautiful as a wooden boat. Now, multiply that by 150+ exquisitely crafted wooden boats and you’ve found yourself at the 2021 International Antique and Classic Boat Show (ACBS) in Coeur d’Alene. That’s right, the floating boardwalk in Coeur d’Alene was chosen to host this last year’s boat show. Boats showed up from all over the country to race, play, and show off their immaculately maintained wooden elegance. The 2021 ACBS ran from September thirteenth to the eighteenth, though the only dates of the actual boat show were the seventeenth and eighteenth.
Most years the boat show is treated to lovely September weather: chilly in the mornings but warms up with the sun. Due to this usually tranquil weather, boat owners will proudly display signs with history and info on their boats for everyone to read. What could be better? Glistening water, glimmering boats, and a one of a kind history lesson. However, September of 2021 turned into a cold, drizzly, dreary weekend just in time for the boat show. Despite the rain and chill, people braved the wet weather to marvel at the variety of boats present.
Of all of the boats present at the show, three were from our very own Coeur Custom. The boats selected to be present at the show each showed off a different aspect of what the builders are capable of. One was a restored classic herself; a 1929 Chris Craft commuter cruiser named Willow. She sat alongside Coeur Custom’s newest wood boat model; the 340 Steinway HT. Rising above them all, stood a stunning 60-foot blue, wooden sailboat; The Sizzler. Depending on which end of the boardwalk you started on, these three boats stood as either a grand welcome to the event or a spectacular showstopper at the end.
Now if for some reason you missed out on this or had no idea and now think it sounds amazing, don’t worry you can join us next year. The 2022 boat show won’t be international so there won’t be as many boats from far away, but it’ll still be a great place to see beautiful boats. Including one of the most gorgeous boats to come out of Coeur Custom: Jefe. As always this event is free to anyone who loves boats, history, wood, or even walking. We hope you are just as excited as we are about the 2022 ACBS and we hope to see you there. Happy sailing!
